Perisher Announces Extended Ski Season to October

Australia's largest ski area, the Vail Resorts owned Perisher, has announced they're extending their 2017 ski season by a week to Sunday 8th October describing winter 2017 as "the best for five years."
After mixed conditions at the start of the season in June and July there were two very big snowfalls at Australia's leading ski areas in August, colloquially dubbed "The Blizzard of Oz" and "The Blizzard of Oz 2" and a third major snowstorm is now hitting the country expecting to bring up to 45cm of snow to Aussie ski centres by Monday for the start of September.
Bases are already at the 1.5m mark which is a very good figure for Australia.
"Prepare yourselves…here at Perisher we are proud of having the longest snow season in Australia. On the back of over 2 metres of snow falling through the month of August and plenty more snow forecast for next week we are extending the season through till Sunday 8 October, the end of the New South Wales School Holidays!" a statement issued by the resort a few hours ago read, adding,
"The four-resort areas of Perisher, Blue Cow, Smiggin Holes and Guthega are all looking superb ….And with the most amount of snow since 2012 it's the best in years."
