[b]A major snowmaking project is nearing completion at Coronet Peak, with the New Zealand resort hoping to open earlier than ever for the 2026 winter season.'
The installation of a new NZ$2 million TechnoAlpin 'Snow Factory' – a system capable of producing snow in any temperature – is set to transform early-season operations at the Queenstown ski area.

Mammoth, California, 3 feet of snow in April and opening well into May...
Spring conditions across the Northern Hemisphere, with around 300 ski areas still open globally despite rising temperatures. There's been late-season snowfall in California and the Western Alps, Japan's Gassan summer area is opening for the 2026 season, and several resorts including Mammoth Mountain aim to open through to late May.

‘Tignes Unlimited’ electronic music festival brings the winter season to a close

[b]Tignes is rounding off the winter with the second edition of the 'Tignes Unlimited' festival, from 25 April to 03 May 2026.
With several stages spread across the slopes and in the resort, including one at an altitude of 2704m at Tovière, the Tignes Unlimited EDM (that's 'Electronic Dance Music' for the uninitiated!) festival features open-air concerts, daytime DJ sets on the slopes, and evening gigs in the resort's venues.
