Avoriaz is a car-free ski resort located in the Portes du Soleil area. It offers a unique blend of stunning slopes and a vibrant atmosphere.

 Summary

Avoriaz boasts over 130 kilometers of ski slopes, catering to all levels of skiers and snowboarders. The resort is known for its impressive snow record and picturesque alpine architecture.

The ski area of Avoriaz is in the French Alps at an altitude of 5,906ft, with 81 miles of marked runs.

Avoriaz is part of the Portes du Soleil ski area with access to 404 miles of downhill skiing, with 285 marked pistes, served by a total of 196 ski lifts. In addition to the skiing in Avoriaz itself (81 miles of pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Portes du Soleil ski resorts of Abondance, Châtel, La Chapelle d'Abondance, La Grande Terche, Les Gets, Montriond, Morzine, Saint Jean d'Aulps, Champoussin, Champéry, Les Crosets, Morgins and Torgon.

The ski resort itself is at 5,906ft, so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible. With ski lifts as high as 7,480ft, snow cover is generally reliable.

Skiing

The resort's ski areas are situated between 1,800 and 2,466 meters, providing excellent conditions throughout the season. Notable pistes include legendary 'Swiss Wall' (Chavanette), along with lifts like the Prodains and the Mossettes, connecting you to the expansive Portes du Soleil area.

There are a variety of pistes to suit all levels of skier ability, from Beginner to Expert.

How to get there

 By Air

The nearest airport to Avoriaz is Geneva, 80 minutes drive away.

Sion, Annecy, Chambery, Berne, Grenoble, Lyon St-Exupéry and Lyon Bron airports are all within three hours drive.

To reach Avoriaz, the nearest major airports are Geneva and Chambery, both about 1.5 to 2 hours away by car. Shuttle services and transfers are readily available from these airports for convenience.

The 35 ski lifts are able to uplift 47,000 skiers and snowboarders every hour.

When is Avoriaz open?

We don't currently have confirmed season dates, but hope to soon.

Usual opening is mid December, and usual closing is Late April.
