Caron 3200 complex opens in Val Thorens

Caron 3200 complex opens in Val Thorens

Published : 28-Jan-2025 08:16

Despite the fact that the Cime Caron cable car is out of action this winter, yesterday Val Thorens ski resort opened a new multi-service venue at the top of the 3200m Cime de Caron peak.

The new 'Caron 3200' is a venue that combines 'astronomy, relaxation and contemplation'. It will be accessible via the Orelle-Caron gondola only for the rest of the 2024/25 winter season.

Spread over four floors and covering 800 sqm, the Caron 3200 is a minimalist glass cube with 360° views of more than 1000 peaks in the French, Italian and Swiss Alps.

It includes an 80 sqm exhibition room, souvenir shop, 130-seat restaurant and the highest wine bar in the Alps, offering a choice of nearly 150 wines.

Construction of Caron 3200 took almost nine years, from planning to creation. The building is anchored to withstand strong winds and freezing temperatures. Solar panels have also been added.

Accessible in winter and summer, Caron 3200 promises to become a must-see place for visitors to Val Thorens and Les 3 Vallées.

The Cime Caron cable car was damaged in a pre-season accident on 19 November 19. The slopes connecting Cime Caron to Val Thorens remain open.
