Glencoe ski area has announced that it will open for the ski season tomorrow, running three lifts.
The news came after the Highlands enjoyed a cold weekend with lots of snowfall. Unusually for recent years, the forecast is for temperatures to stay cold in to December with more snowfall expected.
"The Access Chair, Coire Pollach and the Plateau Poma will be running tomorrow. Runs have groomed up nicely but still early season conditions so expect some narrow sections," a Glencoe spokesperson said.
In fact the small club ski field at Lowther Hills in southern Scotland was able top open at the weekend, Glencoe is the first commercial centre to open.
The four other Highland snow centres all report good pre-season conditions with cold weather and more snow forecast but no other has committed to opening yet.
