Channel 4 Axes ‘The Jump’

Channel 4 Axes ‘The Jump’

The Sun is reporting that Channel 4 has axed 'The Jump' TV series which saw 'celebrities' compete against each other in various on-snow events filmed in the Austrian Tirol.

The official reason for the show finishing is to make way for broadcasts of the 2018 Winter Olympics from South Korea. Officially the show has not been cancelled but is 'resting' for 2018 and may return, there are also rumours of it being re-invented with 'less dangerous' summer water sports replacing snow sports.

The show drew criticism from some for the large numbers of celebrities injured, particularly in the 2016 series, after which there was surprise that a 2017 series (which saw fewer injuries) was commissioned.

The Sun reports that 34 celebs were injured in total through the four series of the show.

Others thought it was good fun and highlighted the excitement of winter sports even for novice level participants.
