Big Snow, North America's only indoor snow ski centre, was forced to close on selected days in June due to operational pressures linked to the FIFA Club World Cup football match taking place next door at the neighbouring sports centre.
Big Snow is located in New Jersey's vast American Dream mall with the MetLife Stadium where World Cup football matches have been scheduled located next door and sharing the centre's transport infrastructure.
The centre, normally open year‑round thanks to controlled indoor conditions and machine‑made snow, was first closed on Tuesday, June 16, for the match between France and Senegal before resuming standard hours on Wednesday, June 17. In an announcement about its closure, the venue cited the scale of the event and its proximity to the stadium as the reason for the temporary shutdown.
The centre was impacted again by further matches planned for the MetLife stadium including Norway vs. Senegal on June 22. It expects to close again for Ecuador vs. Germany later today on the 25th and England v Panama due to be played there on June 27th. Further matches are scheduled on 30th June, as well as July 5 and 19th,m when it will be the venue for the 2026 World Cup Final.
Big Snow emphasised that normal operations will continue between fixtures.
