The Telegraph’s Alpine Festival Celebrates Its 45th Anniversary

Published : 01-Aug-2018 08:51

This year the Telegraph Ski & Snowboard Festival will celebrate their 45th Anniversary, returning to Battersea Park from 25 to 28 October 2018.

With even more attractions and entertainment, this year's event has been renamed from a 'Show' to a 'Festival' and will kick off the lead in to the winter season.

The first ever Ski Show was in 1973, with only a handful of exhibitors and some expert talks. It subsequently grew into a 10 day affair that filled Earls Court and then London Olympia.

"This year visitors can expect a spectacular Alpine Festival filled with après themed street food and bar areas, live music and entertainment, all the latest apparel and technical equipment and the world's best ski resorts," a statement from the organisers claims.

Dog sledding and Ice Skating

New attractions include dog sledding, while regulars such as the ice rink, the 'Mount Battersea' slope and the street food market are back.

"We are incredibly excited about what the 2018 event has to offer! It is filled to the brim with new and inspiring content that should appeal to everyone from our avid skiers, after-dark festival goers, right through to those just starting out," said Samantha Pearce from Telegraph Ski & Snowboard.

Half Term Activities

Taking place over half-term, visitors can expect plenty of games and activities for kids including an Arts & Crafts Zone, face painting, and a line-up of children's entertainers. The Snow+Rock Climbing Wall will bring fun for all the family, from experienced climbers to first-timers.

Free skiing from Chel-Ski

New for 2018 the Festival will be hosting London's largest indoor ski centre, Chel-Ski, where visitors will have the opportunity to brush up on their existing skills or take their first steps into the fun-fuelled world of skiing or snowboarding!

In the heart of the Mountain Village, a vintage Ferris wheel will provide the best aerial views of the action on Mount Battersea where the British Ski & Snowboard Team will be soaring into the air, demonstrating tricks performed at the recent Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.

Comedy and Apres-Ski

An exceptional comedy line-up and the premium dining area in 'The Lodge' will provide an opportunity to unwind after a few hours spent shopping for all of the latest ski and snow gear.

And if you're feeling out of your depth, you can visit the Travel Genius Bar where one of the Telegraph Experts will help you plan your ideal winter holiday with one of the many resorts from Whistler to Val d'Isère.
