Snowy Start to August in Australia

The start of August is looking like it will be a particularly white one in Australia with up to 20cm of snowfall reported on 31st July so far and some areas expecting up to 50cm of snow in total by the weekend.
The country's largest ski area, Perisher, has reported the biggest 24 hour total of 20cm of fresh snow, with Thredbo not far behind on 15cm over the same period.
However Mt Buller, which has had 7.5cm so far today, may do best over the coming week, hoping for a 50cm accumulation by the weekend.
"The cold fronts are lining up, with 10-20cms followed by another 20-30cms forecast into the weekend," a resort spokesperson said.
Australian ski areas are having a good winter 2018 so far in most cases. Base depths have passed 1.2m at a number of resorts, considered a healthy number for the country, and most lifts are operating and runs open.
