Hotham Overview
One of the most popular ski resorts in Australia, Mount Hotham is widely regarded as having the most reliable snow in the country. Although smaller than the nearby Falls Creek, Hotham is preferred by many due to the friendly atmosphere, the powder skiing - and freeride terrain to challenge the experts.
As well as Falls Creek, the Dinner Plain ski area is close by and linked with Hotham by a shuttle bus.
Skiing
South easterly facing slopes help maintain snow cover and Hotham often receives heavy falls of light powder. The road through the resort divides the skiing, with gentler slopes above and steeper, wooded terrain (for expert and advanced intermediates) below.
Beyond Hotham's powder skiing, advanced skiers can take advantage of the shared lift pass to access the larger ski area of Falls Creek - via a reasonably-priced helicopter link.
There are a variety of pistes to suit all levels of skier ability, from Beginner to Expert.
Snowboarding
Snowboarders will enjoy the varied terrain, both for carving and free riding, as well as the rail parks. Boardercross events are regularly held at Hotham.
